Firestorm: Trial by Fire opened with Wayrne's account of how his please for action were ignored by the NSW Rural Fire Service, leading to his farm being overrun.

 This example of officials flouting their responsibilities and not having sufficient knowledge and experience when it came to crunch time, symbolise this disaster.

 The purpose of my my book was to try to put a full picture out there for people to see, given the widespread cover-ups in the wake of the fires.

But these people are insidious in the way they are avoiding any blame or of taking responsibility for their actions (or lack of them). For the most part, they have the backing of the ACT and NSW governments in this quest and an endless stream of public money to back their cause.

The really sad thing, as Wayne is finding out, is that because of this whitewash no lessons have been learned.

That has been made clear by the way the ACT Government did a U-turn and abolshed the independent bush fire authority, and then lavished hundreds of thousands of dollars on yet another radio system that did not work.

It has been made clear in the way NSW is fighting Wayne in the courts.
